Singapore unveils emergency medical team for disaster response

The SGEMT can be deployed to crisis-affected regions within 72 hours.

Singapore has inaugurated a new emergency medical team to provide rapid medical support during urgent scenarios, bolstering disaster relief efforts.

The Singapore Emergency Medical Team (SGEMT) will provide emergency, primary, maternal, and child healthcare for up to two weeks. 

Moreover, it can be deployed to crisis-affected regions within 72 hours and can operate independently or in coordination with World Health Organisation (WHO)-classified EMTs.

The SGEMT can generate its own electricity, produce clean water, manage waste, and house approximately 30 personnel. This setup ensures it can provide continuous medical care without straining local resources in disaster areas.
