Temasek Foundation, CHI to provide up to S$1.2m project fund for Healthcare Innomatch Winners

The three winning start-ups and SMEs presented innovative healthcare solutions.

Temasek Foundation and the Centre for Healthcare Innovation (CHI) will support and provide up to S$1.2m in project development funds to the three winners of the Healthcare Innomatch, a platform that seeks solutions to improve patient care.

The winners of the first Healthcare Innomatch by Temasek Foundation and CHI were Singapore-based Articares Pte Ltd, which will be paired with Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Belgium’s Epilog-NV, which will partner with the National University Hospital, and RootAlly AI of Singapore, which will be paired with the Singapore General Hospital.

The proposals of the winners banked on artificial intelligence and data analytics, revolving on “telerehabilitation, prediction with actionable insights, and real-time remote monitoring to personalise treatment for patients with cognition-related conditions.”

These concepts and ideas are promising to meet the challenges of an ageing workforce and population, more so during the COVID-19 pandemic,” they said.

Healthcare InnoMatch will provide S$1.2m funds for project development which will support them in meeting test-bedding requirements which include manufacture, customisation, purchase of consumables, analytics, evaluation, protocol planning, and data management needs.

They will receive real-use cases in hospital simulated environments for test-bedding and customising their innovations and within six months, they will complete their test-bedding, which outcome can be shared with other local healthcare institutions across three local healthcare clusters for procurement options.

Healthcare Innomatch called for proposals from 23 November to 12 February wherein 144 teams from over 30 countries were shortlisted, with the themes, "Frail No More," "Reducing hospital-acquired infections," and "Digitalisation to enhance patient care."

Articares project was Smart Robot Therapists at Home for robotics-assisted telerehabilitation at home. RootAlly AI presented “AllyCare—Your Ally for Tele-Rehabilitation which is an AI-based telerehabilitation system therapists can use in their delivery of remote rehabilitation to patients.

Epilog-NV, meanwhile, presented “Epilog—EEG Solutions,” specialized in providing electroencephalogram insights to improve patient care, allowing hospital or at-home monitoring of epilepsy patients and can potentially be used for other neurological diseases.
