Temperature kiosks to be deployed at 70 public transport locations
This is part of the SG United initiative and will be released in Q3.
The Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY), the Land Transport Authority (LTA), and the Defence Science and Technology Agency (DSTA) supported public transport operators to deploy contact-free temperature self-check kiosks at 70 public transport locations island-wide by Q3, according to an announcement.
This is part of the SG United initiative which encourages the public to stay safe through vigilant monitoring of their health and regular temperature-taking.
The kiosk contains a contactless thermal device and detects the heat signature from the person’s forehead to provide a temperature reading in about 2 seconds. A series of feasibility trials were conducted between February and March prior to deployment.
As of the announcement, the kiosks have been deployed at five locations—Braddell MRT station, Boon Keng MRT station, Tiong Bahru MRT station, Bukit Panjang Bus Interchange, and Serangoon Bus Interchange.
This initiative is said to complement existing safe management measures for public transport, workplaces, schools, malls, and community facilities to safeguard overall public health.
