Dr Wong Weng Hong resigns from Healthway
The medical practitioner exits the healthcare group as Executive Director to pursue his personal interests.
Healthway Medical Corporation Limited said on Thursday that Executive Director and Managing Director, Medical Services, Dr Wong Weng Hong, has rendered his resignation in order to pursue his personal interests, according to an announcement from Healthway.
Dr Wong’s resignation as an Executive Director took effect on 18 August 2010. However, he remains as Managing Director, Medical Services until 17 February 2011. Dr Adrian Francis Leong Peng Kheong, takes over Dr Wong’s position as Managing Director, Medical Services.
According to the release, Dr Leong will also be the Medical Director of the Company overseeing the medical practice groups of the Primary Healthcare, Specialist Healthcare and Wellness divisions.
Dr Leong held the posts of Professor of Surgery at the National University of Singapore and Deputy Director and Head of Surgical Oncology, National University Cancer Institute, Singapore, prior to joining the Company on 1 August 2010. Healthway said he brings with him over 20 years of experience in the medical field. He is a colorectal surgeon.
Moreover, Healthway has appointed Dr Han Cheng Fong as the Non-Executive Chairman and Director of China Healthway Pte Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Company. Dr Han was with the Ministry of Labour as its Permanent Secretary from 1978 to 1984 and thereafter had held senior management positions in the private sector – with Singapore Petroleum Company, DBS Land, Fraser & Neave, Sino Group and Far East International. He has extensive experience in developing businesses in China.
