Not so fast: Testing times for Singapore Grand Prix as number of spectators dip
The turnout was 15% lower than last year.
It seems like the Singapore Grand Prix isn’t as much as a spectacle as it used to be as spectators dip a whopping 15% to 73,000 for each of the three days of the event.
According to a report by OCBC, the average number of spectators last year was 87,000.
OCBC added that a potential reason for the decline was the Zika outbreak, but industry sources say this is unlikely.
“Overall, we deem the impact of Zika on arrivals mild and are cautious to take the poorer Grand Prix turnout as an indication of weaker traveler sentiments in Sept,” the report noted.
