120 youths from six organisations treated to watch 2010 Formula 1 Singtel Singapore Grand Prix.
As part of a community outreach initiative, some 120 youths from six welfare organisations were treated to a special evening, as they enjoyed a ride on the Singapore Flyer followed by an opportunity to view the 2010 FORMULA 1 SINGTEL SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX practice session at the Singapore Suite, located in the Pit Building. This event is part of the race organisers’ efforts to share the race experience with a wider segment of society, and was graced by guest-of-honour, Mr Sam Tan, Parliamentary Secretary for Ministry of Trade and Industry and Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts, according to a Singapore Tourism Board report.
About 20 children and youths each from the Life Community Services Society, Methodist Children and Youth Centre, Pathlight School, Yong En Care Centre, MINDS Ville @ Napiri - Children’s Wing and As-Salaam Family Service Support Centre were treated to an evening of fun and race action.
Special performances by entertainment acts such as The Invisible Man and Charlie Chaplin and souvenir giveaways added to the evening’s festivities, courtesy of race promoter, Singapore GP Pte Ltd.
Other sponsors of this event included C&P for transportation, with catering provided by Singapore Marriott Hotel.
“Already into its third year, the 2010 FORMULA 1 SINGTEL SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX is a major event in Singapore’s year round calendar of festivities. We want the wider community to share in the excitement and enjoy the experience and buzz brought about by the race,” said Mr Tan.
