Bangkok and Hong Kong beat out Singapore as top Asian holiday destinations
Though tourists spend more in the city-state’s hotels.
It’s that time of the year again when tourists are abuzz, but it seems like they’re shunning the Merlion and Singapore Flyer for Bangkok and Hong Kong’s attractions.
According to a survey by Trivago, Thailand’s destinations make up almost a third of the top Asian Christmas locations for international travellers, and are also among the cheapest.
However, the survey adds that travellers are willing to spend the most on hotels in Singapore, paying an average of S$278 per night over 5 nights.
“This is 16% more than what they are willing to pay in Hong Kong and 24% more in Tokyo,” Trivago said.
