Chart of the Day: Check out the top hotel investment transactions for 2019

Ascott Raffles Place’s 268 rooms sold for an average of $2.4m each.

This chart from JLL Singapore reveals the top four hotel investment deals in 2019, led by the sale of Ascott Raffles Place for $353.3m. This equates to each of the hotel’s 146 rooms being sole for $2.4m on average.

The sale of Oakwood Premier OUE Singapore to DHI Holding (S) followed, recording a total consideration of $289m. The price comes at $1.1m per room in the hotel.

The buyer is a reportedly a joint venture formed by Hong Kong financial services firm AMTD Group and Dorsett Hospitality International, a subsidiary of Hong Kong-listed property giant, Far East Consortium International.

Rounding up the list are the sales of Bay Hotel for $235m, with a per room value of $736,700; and Ibis Noventa, which sold for $170m with a per room value of $705,400.

DBS Equity Research earlier reported that mergers and acquisitions (M&A) happening within the hospitality space might be impending catalysts of growth for the sector.
