
Chart of the Day: Hotel room rates jumped 20.3% to $261 per night
As against 2010's $217 average rate.
According to Chestern Singapore, statistics indicates that for YTD Q3 2012, the overall room rates have increased by 7% over YTD Q2 2011 with the luxury and upscale segments registering a 9% improvement.
Over the same period, the overall average occupancy rate had no change; the luxury segment and upscale segments increased at 3% and 1% respectively whereas the mid-tier and economy segments both decreased by 1%.

In terms of RevPAR, there is overall 7% increase with luxury, upscale and mid-tier segments increasing by 12%, 10% and 4% respectively and economy segment declined by 1%.
These indicates that both the luxury and upscale tiered hotels performed better than the mid-tier hotels and the economy tiered hotels are sensitive to slight movement in occupancy.
