
It's raining men: More male tourists seen in Singapore during CNY
Male tourists were seen 1.5 times higher compared to female ones.
During the recently celebrated Chinese New Year, location intelligence platform Near found out that male tourists were seen 1.5 times higher compared to female tourists. Around 61% of the 48,000 tourists and 36,500 who flocked seven locations in Singapore were male according to the study conducted by Near.
Meanwhile, the highest number of tourists were seen in the age group of 46+ years at 36%, followed by 36 – 45-year-olds at 32%, 26 – 35-year-olds at 19%, and 18 – 25-year-olds at 13%.
In terms of shopping location, locals and tourists prefer different places. Tourists preferred to shop at Suntec City, followed by Orchard Road. It was different for locals, who went to Plaza Singapura and Novena Square.
