MoM unveils Jobs Transformation Map for the hotel industry
The job framework would help the hotels and their workers to be future-ready.
The Ministry of Manpower (MoM) has launched a Jobs Transformation Map (JTM) for the country's hotel industry to guide employers and employees on the skills and talent needed to remain competitive, innovative, and sustainable.
Developed by the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) and Workforce Singapore (WSG), with the support from SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG), MoM, Singapore Hotel Association, and the Food, Drinks and Allied Workers Union, the JTM identified four megatrends that would impact job roles and skills in the industry over the next three years -- changing guest expectations as lifestyles evolve, sustainability, the competitive landscape, and the changing workforce aspirations.
It also assessed 87 current job roles and redesigned almost half of them due to demands from automation and upskilling.

Over 135 hotels in the country with over 18,000 local workers have committed to transforming their jobs in line with the JTM.
The STB and the National Trades Union Congress, Employment and Employability Institute, WSG, and SSG also committed to helping retain and attract talent through job transformation.
"With the launch of the Jobs Transformation Map for the Hotel Industry, we have taken a significant step towards a future-ready workforce equipped with the necessary skills to keep the hotel industry competitive and innovative," said Keith Tan, STB CEO.
