“Visitor numbers from Singapore to Victoria increased by six per cent in the year ending March 2013, with Singaporean visitors choosing to spend more nights in Victoria than any other state," revealed Australian Premier Denis Napthine who was in Singapore over the weekend to promote the Victoria state.
Napthine noted that Victoria’s top competitive strengths which allow it to attract Singaporeans and other South East Asia tourits include having a cooler climate, high-quality shopping and nightlife, outstanding food and wine experiences and easy accessibility to the natural beauty and wildlife of Victoria’s regions.
“Victoria is the world’s sporting and events capital,” Dr Napthine added. “Our major stadiums along with our prestigious sporting and cultural events calendar combined with world-class tourism offerings such as the Victorian snowfields and the Grampians make our state the envy of all other Australian states.
Napthine also said that Victoria is determined to keep drawing in Singaporeans. “Singapore is one of the most developed travel markets in Asia and the tourism it generates for Victoria is vital for our state economy. The Victorian Coalition Government is committed to ensuring that we remain the premier destination for Singaporean visits,” Dr Napthine said.
