Siloso Beach reopens for water activities after oil spill cleanup

The water quality at the beach has returned to normal levels.

Siloso Beach has reopened for water activities and beachfront businesses are now fully operational, the Sentosa Development Corporation (SDC) said on 3 August.

Siloso Beach, along with the Southern Island beaches were temporarily closed following an oil spill incident on 14 June. The extensive cleanup operations, involving over 300 trained workers, were completed in one and a half months instead of the initially expected three-month timeline.

During the cleanup, the National Environment Agency (NEA) regularly monitored the water quality at Siloso Beach, which has returned to normal levels.

Meanwhile, Palawan and Tanjong beaches, also affected by the oil spill, are in the final phase of cleanup operations, expected to be completed by mid-August. The waters at these beaches will reopen for water activities once the water quality returns to normal levels.
