Singapore Tourism Board launches Legacy Toolkit for sustainable MICE events

The toolkit is designed to assist stakeholders through the “FIRM” framework.

The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) has unveiled the Legacy Toolkit to promote sustainability and impact for Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions (MICE) events.

The toolkit contains case studies promoting legacy possibilities and is designed to assist stakeholders in understanding legacy and impact through a framework titled “FIRM”.

Through the framework, planners are encouraged to frame their vision, ideate their initiatives, realise action plans, and measure impact.

Meanwhile, the STB also said it targets to reduce carbon emissions locally and abroad.

Aggregated data from a national MICE Industry Carbon and Waste Baseline exercise in 2023 will assist the board in regularly tracking carbon emissions baselines for waste reduction and decarbonisation strategies.

In line with this, STB aims to participate in international MICE tradeshows for carbon-neutral participation.

“Since the launch of the MICE Sustainability Roadmap in 2022, the Singapore Tourism Board has remained steadfast in our commitment to fostering a more sustainable and impactful MICE industry.” Yap Chin Siang,  Deputy Chief Executive of STB, said.

“We are pleased to share that the initiatives we unveil today will not only steer the MICE industry towards a more sustainable future but also provide tangible ways in which event organisers and planners can make a meaningful, lasting impact in Singapore,” Yap added.
