
Singaporeans unveil 3 considerations when selecting digital travel platforms
Six in 10 will compare prices on different platforms before booking accommodation.
Given the rising cost of living, many Singaporeans have become extremely price-conscious when it comes to travelling.
According to a survey by Booking.com, Singaporean travellers will most likely book their accommodation or activity on a digital travel platform that offers the lowest prices (69%).
Apart from cost, Singaporeans also consider the flexibility of cancellation and refund policies (56%) and good user experience (32%) when choosing a digital travel platform to use for their next trip.
The report also found that more than half of Singaporeans (60%) like to compare prices on different platforms before booking accommodation online.
Most travellers prefer an accommodation budget of $100-$250 per night (56%), whilst some would only spend less than $100 (32%). Very few would spend $250-$500 (10%) and $500-$1000 (2%) a night.
More than half (57%) will read online reviews first, whilst some (46%) will read information about what they can do near the accommodation before deciding.
Amongst activities that Singaporeans prefer to do when travelling include dining (79%) and shopping (60%).
To further save money whilst travelling, Singaporeans will choose to stay at budget-friendly accommodation (57%), travel during off-peak times (52%), or select less expensive travel destinations (44%).
Amongst travel destinations, East Asia, particularly Japan and South Korea, is the most preferred by Singaporeans, followed by Europe (15%), Ocean, particularly Australia and New Zealand (15%), and South East Asia (14%).
