STB, Alitrip team up to showcase Singapore travel products to Chinese tourists
Travel sector merchants will set up online retail shops.
The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) has teamed up with travel service platform Alitrip to boost Singapore travel sector merchants’ online products.
The two parties will integrate tourism resources in Singapore to provide travel products and services to Chinese tourists visiting the country, according to a media release by Alitrip.
“China is Singapore's second largest contributor to international visitor arrivals, with some 1.8 million tourists from January to October 2015, a year-on-year growth of more than 20 percent. We see huge growth trends in their online and mobile consumption,” said Quek Choon Yang, CTO of STB.
He further stated that the collaboration with Alitrip will bolster direct sales and booking of Singapore travel products online.
Thanks to this team-up, Singaporean travel sector companies (such as airlines, hotels, local travel hospitality and agencies, as well as businesses at tourist attractions) will be able to offer their wares in retail outlets on Alitrip. So far, Ascott, Resorts World Sentosa and Six Stars Tours & Services have already set up their online stores.
Alitrip will leverage its online platform, destination partners, as well as products and innovations to make Singapore an omni-channel travel destination. Already, Alibaba Group’s affiliate Alipay has over 100 Singapore partner merchants.
Further, Alitrip’s big data infrastructure will provide insights to help STB and Singapore travel sector merchants in making marketing decisions.
