Where Singaporeans want to go next
Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Japan are amongst their top searches.
Flight searches amongst Singaporeans jumped significantly over the last week as countries in the region ease inbound travel restrictions, Expedia found.
In its last report, Expedia recorded a 280% and 250% increase in flight searches to Taiwan and Hong Kong, respectively. This is despite a self-monitoring requirement in Taiwan of more than 7 days upon the arrival.
“Following the slew of announcements of travel restrictions easing in Japan, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, search demand on Expedia for the key travel destinations has seen a significant jump in demand,” Lavinia Rajaram, Asia Head of Public relations, Expedia Group, said.

Moreover, Expedia also found flight searches to Japan also more than tripled by 205% compared to the last 7-day average. In particular, Singaporeans are looking to visit Tokyo, Osaka, Sapporo, and Kyoto Miyakojima.
“The recent rebound in travel interest for the 3 destinations has expectedly led to their return in the top 10 destinations among Singapore travellers, as vacation-deprived Singaporeans are excited to return to this destination that was closed off the past 2 years,” Expedia noted.
Between 23 to 25 September, Expedia found the top 10 destinations include: Bangkok, Thailand; Tokyo, Japan; Taipei, Taiwan; Osaka, Japan; Bali, Indonesia; Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Phuket, Thailand; Seoul, South Korea; Penang, Malaysia; and Hong Kong.
