Chart of the day: Singapore leads APAC peers in sustainability reporting

Most Singapore companies adopted international guidelines for reporting.

This chart from Morgan Stanley shows that Singapore leads its Asia Pacific peers in terms of sustainability rates, with 100% of their constituents in Singapore having published sustainability reports.

Singapore is followed by Taiwan, Australia, Japan, Hong Kong, and India.

Additionally, most of Morgan Stanley’s constituents in Singapore and Taiwan have adopted international guidelines for reporting and established sustainability committees. Whilst the majority of corporates are publishing sustainability reports in the Asia Pacific are employing international guidelines and external auditing is, however, still relatively uncommon.

“Compared to last year, disclosure rates in APAC remained generally flat or improved. Almost all markets enhanced environmental disclosures vs last year. Social disclosure rates also improved favourably compared to the last update, with disclosures on supply chain health and safety policies improving the most significantly. Governance disclosure rates also remained relatively stable versus the last update,” the report said.
