Singlife, SAL launch mental health scheme for lawyers
The programme will be offered to more than 13,000 legal professionals.
Singlife is partnering with the Singapore Academy of Law (SAL) to provide a mental health and wellness insurance scheme for its members.
The programme will offer more than 13,000 legal professionals access to coaching, clinical counselling, and self-care resources to support their mental well-being and help them manage the pressures of legal practice.
The scheme includes a variety of mental health services valued at over $766.79 (S$1,000) per member annually.
Members can benefit from three 30-minute behavioural health coaching sessions, three one-hour clinical counselling sessions with licensed professionals, and access to a personalised self-care platform.
The platform offers tools, programmes, and a 24/7 helpline for crisis support. Additionally, Singlife is providing personal accident coverage of $11,501.79 (S$15,000) for accidental death or total permanent disability, along with discounts on Singlife products, health screenings, and lifestyle rewards.
Announced at the inaugural Legal Professional Symposium by Honourable Justice Valerie Thean, the initiative comes in response to growing concerns about mental wellness in the legal profession. “This initiative is timely,” said Justice Thean, emphasising the need for support in this area.
“We are pleased to be the first insurer to offer SAL members an insurance scheme with mental health support.” Chia Ko Wen, Head of Sustainability at Singlife, said.
The two-year partnership between Singlife and SAL will begin in January 2025.
