All the single ladies: Here’s Singapore’s first female-centric dating app for you

Its female-friendly features help women find serious daters.

Are you tired of playing around and want to get serious with your relationship? LunchClick, wanting to be the go-to app for serious daters boasting of its safety and efficiency, is maybe for you. It promises to get singles onto offline dates without wasting time in awkward small talk.

According to Violet Lim, co-founder and CEO of LunchClick, the mobile dating market is currently offering dating applications which only appeal to people looking for fleeting encounters or who are merely browsing to see who’s out there. Singles who are looking for a serious relationship, she said, find it a daunting task filtering through casual dates to look for other like-minded and genuine daters.

LunchClick bills itself as Singapore’s first dating app with female-centric features for safe dates and post-date feedback. It also boasts of being the first app in Asia that actually facilitates the arrangement process from the getting-to-know phase to the actual date. Violet explains that unlike other apps where users have to use open chat to try to arrange for a date, LunchClick users can quickly propose a date by choosing a café/restaurant, and propose 3 options for date/time.

“Having been in the dating industry for 10+ years, we understand singles’ needs and wants. We realise that even though there is a plethora of dating apps in the market, none of the dating apps target serious daters, and effectively help to bring the users from online to offline,” says Violet.

Another unique feature of the app is the absence of chatting. “Once there’s a mutual like, the users will use our Q&A function to find out more about each other by choosing one of our 100+ interesting and insightful multiple-choice questions,” she adds.

Violet explains that LunchClick verifies the authenticity of users, sieving out married men or those who merely want to accumulate ‘likes’ without seriously considering a date.

LunchClick also helps protect women’s privacy, with female-friendly features which deter men from frequent swiping or clicking ‘Like’ repeatedly, just to accumulate ‘likes’, having little regard for the other party’s photos and profiles. Women often are unhappy at receiving inappropriate messages containing sexual content, and messages from men who claim to be single when they are not.

As LunchClick wants to help their users to go offline as quickly as possible, they have a ‘facilitated process’ that allow singles to quickly size up each other through the profile as well as the Q&As. By then, LunchClick users can decide whether they would like to meet offline, and get to know each other in person instead of open chatting which Violet said does not cut short the process.

At S$99, this app also allows users to hire a ‘Love Assistant’ who is like a personal assistant that will provide services such as handpicked matches, advanced match preferences, profile analysis, and etc.

In an introductory campaign, LunchClick will sponsor the first 500 dates (ie 1000 users) who use the app. For this initial number of users who successfully use the propose-a-date feature and get a confirmed date, LunchClick will cover the cost of their meals (up to $50 for 2 people) at its partner restaurants.

LunchClick, which is now available for download at the Apple AppStore and Google Play, is part of Lunch Actually Group and is supported by an in-house team of developers and Violet’s over a decade of matchmaking experience. Lunch Actually, a matchmaking agency in Asia also co-founded by Violet, has grown from a two-person start-up, to its current strength of 75 people across Singapore, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Penang and most recently Jakarta. Last year alone, the group’s cash revenue grew by more than 50% and hit a new revenue milestone of $5 million making it the biggest dating agency in South East Asia.
