4th Singapore Short Film Awards to kick off on 2 March
According to a release, in March, the 4th Singapore Short Film Awards will take place, featuring a week long series of screenings, culminating in the Awards night on Saturday 2 March.
Associate Artists Bani Haykal and Grace Tan will be making their final presentations as part of the Associate Artist Research Programme, which will mark the end of two years of research.
Bani Haykal will also be presenting Tribal Gathering Gagging Sessions, where he will perform sound and music works created at a recent residency in Bandung, Indonesia.
For the literary arts, we will launch the first edition of The Substation Fairytales: Stories in the End, which features short stories from Ng Yi Sheng, Tania de Rosa and Bani Haykal. In the performing arts, The Substation will co-present performances by Syndicate, Maya Dance Theatre and In Source Theatre.
In April, Associate Artist Ming Poon will make his final presentation in.ViSiBLE, a movement performance that takes its inspiration from interviews conducted with people living with HIV.
Veteran artist Tang Mun Kit will present his first solo show since 2010, titled TOSS Series: The Other Singapore Story.
It will feature 55 illustrations of excerpts taken from the mainstream media’s coverage of Singapore politics. Finally, Indian classical musician Sushma will perform one of the oldest forms of traditional music, Carnatic music, in a concert and workshop for traditional music enthusiasts.
