Here's more from Opera Gallery:
For the first time in Asia, Opera Gallery Singapore is pleased to present world-renowned artist Richard MacDonald’s Magical Energies exhibition on 21 September 2012. This will be presented alongside Opera Gallery’s Timeless Masterpieces exhibition, an exceptional art collection from some of the most distinguished artists of the 20th century.
Known for using only live models for his sensational baroque style figurative work, Richard MacDonald’s art pieces captures not just the form, but the vitality and personality of the models in his sculptures. As the artist behind the creation of monumental sculptures of the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta and the 100th U.S. Open in 2000, Richard MacDonald is the first and only artist to have been given exclusive behind-the-scenes access to the famous Cirque du Soleil.
Drawing inspiration from the brilliant spectacle of the circus styles, Richard Macdonald encapsulated a performer’s beauty, athleticism and spirit in his creations. Come 21 September, these sculptures will premiere in Singapore, both in the Opera Gallery Singapore at ION Orchard as well as showcased on the lively streets of Orchard Road.
“The most important aspect of my work is capturing the soul and the movement of the human spirit,” said Richard MacDonald. “Through my art work, I hope to increase the appreciation and understanding of figurative sculpturing throughout Singapore and the rest of Asia.”
Together with Richard MacDonald’s works, Opera Gallery will also be presenting Timeless Masterpieces, a collection of some of the rarest works by the most treasured artists in the 20th century. Expect unrestricted access to art pieces such as Botero’s famous paintings and his iconic sculptures, Picasso’s most intimate figurative encounters, Renoir’s romantic brushed people-scapes and Dufy’s water-coloured dreams.
“With close to two decades worth of experience in the industry, Opera Gallery has consistently brought high quality art to art lovers and investors, and we hope to continue doing that with these new collections,” said Stephane Le Pelletier, Director, Asia Pacific of Opera Gallery. Richard MacDonald has consistently proved himself to be ahead of the times with his art of human sculpturing, where he has truly earned himself a status of being an unequivocal master of the art. Continuing our successful world-class exhibitions, we are pleased to showcase his installations alongside the Timeless Masterpieces exhibition.”
Timeless Masterpieces and Richard MacDonald’s Magical Energies will be opened to the public for viewing from 21 September till 21 October at Opera Gallery in ION Orchard Singapore. Monumental pieces from Richard Macdonald’s collection will also be featured along Orchard Road, outside prominent buildings including St Regis Singapore, Wisma Atria and ION Orchard Singapore.
