Singapore Yacht Show debuts with biggest selection yet
Exhibitors doubled from last outing.
In a release, event organizers announced that the Singapore Yacht Show has opened to showcase a bigger selection of boats, yachts and superyachts than Singapore has ever seen.
One°15 Marina Club is now a hive of activity with the 57.5m sailing yacht Twizzle, the 59.3m I-Dynasty, Kingship’s 42m Star, Sunseeker’s 40m flagship Tanvas, eight boats by Princess, Palmer Johnson’s 47m Vantage, a 33m San Lorenzo presented by Luxury Yachts, luxury day cruisers by Wider Yachts and Yachting Partners International’s classic 33m sailing yacht Shamoun.
The number of exhibitors has more than doubled this year, presenting everything from sporty runabouts and sailboats, perfect for the first time buyer, to glamorous superyachts with all the on-board toys and tenders a billionaire could want.
The event also showcases luxury cars, fabulous property, private jets, contemporary art, and a live fashion show from international resort-wear brands (at 4pm Saturday, at Boaters’ Bar). Complementing the hip, beachside ambiance, DJ Miles Slater of exclusive, members-only nightclub Boujis in London and Hong Kong, will play from 2pm on Saturday and Sunday.
Managing director of Singapore Yacht Events, Andy Treadwell, said exhibitors anticipate healthy sales at this year’s event as the region’s growing number of increasingly wealthy people see boats as their next luxury leisure purchase.
“We are proud to be achieving what we were asked to deliver at the beginning – an event with the vibrancy, quality and reputation of the world’s best marine shows,” Mr Treadwell said.
“With so much going on every day – industry conferences, a luxury gala dinner tomorrow night and plenty of parties – the Singapore Yacht Show 2013 is shaping up to be the region’s premier lifestyle event this year.”
Speaking to journalists today, Roger Liang, founder and managing director of Kingship said he was excited to bring Star to Singapore Yacht Show. He built Asia’s first superyacht here in Singapore 20 years ago and has since been committed to building beautiful boats that match the Asian consumer’s needs as well as the region’s regulations.
“For me, being at Singapore Yacht Show is like a homecoming. I am very happy to see the industry here develop so well,” Mr Liang said.
Singapore Yacht Show will be open to the public from 1pm – 6pm tomorrow (Thursday April 18) and 2pm until 8pm from Friday April 19 until Sunday April 21. Door sales $50.
