
URA launches 2010 Marina Bay event line up
The Urban Redevelopment Authority has revealed the event line up for 2010 to mark the completion of key developments in Marina Bay.
Themed “Marina Bay Invitations 2010”,programmes will feature performing and visual arts events, to sporting and cultural activities. Designed to appeal to “people of all ages and from all walks of life”, the series of events is targeted at raising publicity for the Bay as an entertainment area.
The Bay is targeted for a huge transformation. 2010 is expected to have the world’s first curved double helix bridge built there, as well as an Art Park and a new 3.5km-long waterfront promenade connecting attractions around Marina Bay. Other landmarks, attractions and developments such as Fullerton Heritage, 50 Collyer Quay, Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort and Marina Bay Financial Centre (Phase 1) are also expected to be completed.
“2010 is a milestone year for Marina Bay and Singapore. It is the time when most of the developments around the Bay are completed, and the dawn of a new skyline for Singapore. We want to extend an invitation to every Singaporean and visitor to come to Marina Bay to join in the calendar of exciting events in 2010.We have thus put together the “Marina Bay Invitations 2010” series, so that the community can come and experience Marina Bay for themselves and appreciate the transformation,” said Mrs Cheong Koon Hean, URA’s Chief Executive Officer.
