Asia's M&A deals jumped 27.2% to US$451.8b

China's outbound deals jumped 124.9% and boosted regional growth.

Deal-making activity involving Asia Pacific reached US$451.8b in 2018 YTD, up 27.2% from a year ago, after witnessing the best-ever May total with US$140.6b, Thomson Reuters revealed.

According to a report, China and India M&A witnessed strong monthly levels in May 2018.

At least eight mega deals above US$3b were announced in May 2018, which totalled US$74.5b. Five of them are included in the region’s top ten deals this year.

China M&A activity witnessed the highest May total in 2018, pushing YTD activity to US$260.7b, a 28.4% increase in value from a year ago. China outbound deals grew 124.9% in value after a slow period last year.
