E-scooter startup Lime withdraws LTA application for sandbox license

The company decided to “reprioritise” efforts to meet global demand.

US-based e-scooter startup Lime is withdrawing its application for a sandbox license from the Land Transport Authority (LTA) “in the short term.”

Lime’s global head of operations and strategy Wayne Ting said in a statement that they are looking to “reprioritise efforts to meet the fast growing and strong demand for micromobilty around the globe.”

However, the firm did not mention anything about the company’s earlier plan to set up its Asia Pacific headquarters in Singapore that was slated to open in Q3.

The company assured that it will maintain their corporate support team in Singapore and said that it hoped to work with the LTA in the future.
