NUS launches entrepreneurial hub in China

The initiative plans to ease foreign market entry of businesses.

NUS Enterprise, the entrepreneurial arm of National University of Singapore, launched BLOCK71 in Suzhou, China which will allow and provide support for Singapore companies to explore potential business opportunities in China.

The initiative was unveiled by Singapore Minister for Finance Heng Swee Keat.

According to a press release, BLOCK71 Suzhou will operate in two locations: one in Suzhou Industrial Park and the second at Ascendas iHub Suzhou which is expected to be ready by 2018.

“BLOCK71 Suzhou will help to drive active interactions between research and start-up communities in both Singapore and Suzhou, enabling them to reach international markets and scale more efficiently,” said Professor Tan Eng Chye of NUS.

This leverages on the success of NUS Suzhou Research Institute (NUSRI), NUS’ first overseas research institute.

BLOCK71’s other facilities can be found in Singapore, San Francisco and Jakarta.
