Singapore auto platform Motorist.sg nabs seed funding from angel investors
JobsCentral’s co-founders Der Shing Lim and Shao-Ning Huang and live chat software Zopim’s co-founder Royson Tan pitched in.
AutoConcierge platform Motorist.sg secured an undisclosed sum in seed funding from career and education portal JobsCentral’s co-founders Der Shing Lim and Shao-Ning Huang, as well as from live chat software Zopim’s co-founder Royson Tan.
Launched in May 2015, Motorist.sg provides vehicle valuations services as well as car insurance, certificate of entitlement (COE) renewals and vehicle purchases. The firm has transacted more than 9,200 vehicles worth over $176m to date, the statement highlighted.

The firm is looking to use the additional injection of funds to rev up its presence in Southeast Asia with a new office in Thailand slated to open in 2019. Motorist.sg already has offices in Singapore, Malaysia and Vietnam.
“The next six months will be very exciting for the Motorist team,” the firm’s CEO Damian Sia said in a statement. “We will focus on marketing and supercharging our products and services to show future investors the scalability of our business model.”
Motorist.sg also plans to roll out a nationwide campaign in February to promote the launch of its new mobile app which will be available for car owners via the App Store and Google Play.
