
Singapore's Makara Innovation Fund secures US$150m from Jordanian investor
Makara Capital will utilise it to fund late-stage start-ups and growth-stage companies.
Makara Innovation Fund (MIF) secured US$150m ($204.9m) from Jordan-based Badr Investments, an announcement revealed. The intellectual property (IP) driven fund managed by Makara Capital invests in late-stage start-ups and growth-stage companies.
Makara Innovation Fund (MIF) was jointly established by the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) and private equity firm Makara Capital.
“We are attracted to the fund’s investment strategy that prioritizes intellectual property, as a key competitive asset and driver of value in businesses,” Badr Investments founder and CEO Dr. Amin Badr-El-Din said.
The firm employs cross-border buy-and-build strategies to accelerate enterprise growth, focusing on Singapore as a strategic hub from where to
execute IP management and commercialisation strategies in view of global scale-up.
Makara Capital partnered with the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore’s (IPOS) enterprise engagement arm IP ValueLab to conduct intangible asset due diligence on MIF’s investment decisions.
With a hard capital of US$700m ($956m), MyRepublic is amongst MIF’s investment recipients.
