Expect weak movement from the market today.

The Straits Times Index (STI) ended 9.21 points or 0.28% higher to 3343.88, taking the year-to-date performance to +16.08%.

The top active stocks were DBS, which gained 1.37%, UOB, which gained 1.44%, CapitaLand Mall Trust, which declined 0.98%, Singtel, which declined 0.27% and OCBC Bank, with a 0.79% advance.

The FTSE ST Mid Cap Index gained 0.27%, whilst the FTSE ST Small Cap Index rose 0.33%.

The S&P 500 and the Dow on Wednesday posted their biggest one-day declines in more than seven weeks on a string of disappointing earnings, even as the stock market pared early losses.

All 11 S&P 500 industries finished lower, with Telecommunication Services, which dipped 2.28%, and Industrials, which fell 1.04%, leading the declines.

"The weakness on Wall Street overnight could weigh on local sentiment this morning," OCBC said.
