
Securities market turnover value up 23% to $24.3b in September: SGX
Improving market conditions spurred capital market fundraising.
Singapore Exchange (SGX) reported a 23% YoY growth in total securities market turnover value to $24.3b in September.
Securities daily average value rose 18% YoY to $1.11b, with the securities average clearing fee for the quarter at 2.74 basis points, a hike from 2.60 basis points recorded last year.
SGX stated that the optimism of improving market conditions prompted capital market fundraising, whilst uncertainties ahead of the upcoming US elections boosted portfolio risk-management activity across asset classes.
SGX-listed companies tapped equity capital markets with secondary fundraising of $2.11b.
Total funds raised from equity and bond listings on SGX increased 63% YoY to $40.8b in September, the highest amount since February.
Meanwhile, the market turnover value of exchange-traded funds on SGX leapt 114% YoY to $325m in September, bringing the Q3 total to $1.2b, up 110% from the same period last year.
