SGX maintains firm market activities growth in October

Commodities led the charge.

The local bourse has hit the sweet spot on its market activities this month, as its securities, derivatives, and commodities markets all saw steady yoy growth.

According to a press release by Singapore Exchange, its total securities market turnover value grew 6% yoy to $23.1b, while securities daily average value increased by 1% yoy to $1b.

“Market turnover value of Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) was $270 million, up 19% month on month and 30% year on year,” SGX said.

Meanwhile, total derivatives volume was also up by 6% to 11.3m, while Equity Index Futures volume was 9.7 million, down 20% mom and flat yoy.
SGX also said commodities derivatives volume was up 83% yoy to 772,829.

“Iron Ore Derivatives volume was 686,456, down 22% month on month and up 107% year on year. Forward Freight Derivatives volume was 27,649, down 17% month on month and up 387% year on year. SICOM Rubber Futures volume, the world’s price benchmark for physical rubber, was 56,199, up 20% month on month and down 24% year on year,” SGX said.
