The UK-based financial services revealed that amongst the estimated 82,590 monthly searches for UK stocks in Singapore, the oil and gas company is the most popular with 6,630 monthly searches, making up over one in 12 average monthly searches for UK stocks. BP took second place with 6,250 monthly searches.
HSBC took third place with 4,730 monthly searches, whilst Barclays and Unilever completed the Top 5 in fourth and fifth places, respectively. The British universal bank has 3,420 monthly searches, whilst the multinational consumer goods company has 2,950 monthly searches.
According to the spokesman from CMC Markets, the high search volume for Shell and BP indicated their global reach and popularity as publicly traded companies. It also showed how strong the consumer’s interest in oil and gas companies and their financial performance was.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson noted that investors should take note of the companies’ average monthly search volume as it tells consumer sentiment towards their stock and their strong potential for growth.
