Girl power: Servcorp to award outstanding businesswomen in 2013

'Women in Business Awards' are the first of their kind to honor the works of Singaporean businesswomen.

In a release, Servcorp, the world’s premier provider of serviced and virtual office space announces its inaugural awards in recognition of successful businesswomen. The Women In Business Awards is to recognize the achievements of women in the Singaporean business community. The awards, which were announced at Servcorp Singapore's 25th Anniversary at their new PSA Building location, are part of Servcorp's global commitment to promoting and supporting women in the workforce.

While businesses and business personalities are recognized for their successes, and stand-out women in Singapore are often honoured for their achievements with home and family life, the Servcorp Women in Business Awards are the first of their kind - celebrating and congratulating the stand-out work of businesswomen in Singapore.

Servcorp's COO Marcus Moufarrige was in Singapore to announce the awards at the official opening of their newest premier serviced and virtual office location at PSA Building, saying, "Since our inception, we've been a strong believer in the power and performance of women in the workplace and have long hoped to promote this ideal not just within our organisation, but in the business community as a whole."

Servcorp is widely recognized as an industry-leader in its philosophy towards women in business, providing in-depth company training and promoting women in the workplace to high-level management roles since its founding in 1978.

The driving force of the awards has been Servcorp's General Manager for South-East Asia, Susie Martin. Herself a classic success story of Servcorp's progressive policies towards women in the workplace, Susie started out at Servcorp in 1995, and through the company's training and succession planning she soon rose to be the organisation's youngest ever general manager at the age of 28.

"Singapore is the perfect place to launch these awards," Susie remarked. "As our first ever international location back in 1987 and now celebrating 25 successful years here, we're looking forward to giving back and celebrating the impressive business achievements of women in Singapore."

Nominee registration for the awards will be opening in the coming months, with applications open in various categories from SMEs to multinational corporations with operations in Singapore.

The awards ceremony is slated for Q2 of 2013, when the winners will be announced. Additionally, proceeds from the Gala Dinner Awards Ceremony will be contributed to BoardAgender by Servcorp as part of their overall CSR initiatives for the 2012-2013 calendars.
