MediaCorp to broadcast London 2012 Paralympics Games

The games will be held from 29 August to 9 September.

In a release, MediaCorp announced that it will broadcast the London 2012 Paralympics Games, held from 29 August till 9 September 2012. With MediaCorp’s appointment as the Official Broadcaster of the London 2012 Paralympics Games, Channel 5 and HD5 will air the Opening and Closing Ceremonies live and commercial-free, with same-day Primetime encores.

Further, they will carry 2-hour highlights daily at 5pm that captures the best of daily action. The London 2012 Paralympic Games will see 4000 athletes from 162 nations competing in 20 different sports. Singapore will be represented in four sports - Boccia, Paralympic Swimming, Paralympic Equestrian and Paralympic Sailing. Team Singapore’s Yip Pin Xiu, who has Muscular Dystrophy, won a Gold Medal and set a new World Record in the 50m Backstroke (S3) at the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games.
