The New Paper Big Walk returns
Walkers will be taken to a 5km route from Central to Marina Barrage on 2 September.
In a release, The New Paper Big Walk returns this year and takes walkers on a scenic 5km route from Central to Marina Barrage on 2 September 2012, from 7.45am to noon. Each participant walks away with over $700 worth of goodies and will get to participate in fun activities during and after the walk.
Presented by Straits Trading, The New Paper Big Walk 2012 is also sponsored by Central, Denizen, Gain City, H-TWO-O isotonic drink, Nando's, Singapore Turf Club and Star Cruises.
Mr. Dominic Nathan, Editor of The New Paper (TNP), said: "Continuing in the tradition built up over the years, this year's TNP Big Walk will be fun-filled and family-friendly. It is our way of rewarding our readers as we turn 24. We are also connecting with the community in a special way this year by going green to support the Singapore G1 event and committing a portion of the money raised to a charitable cause – Project Helping Hands."
For the first time, TNP will partner the Singapore Environment Council (SEC). The Big Walk will be held in conjunction with the SEC's Singapore G1 2012 event, which promotes green and healthy living.
Mr. Jose Raymond, SEC's Executive Director, said: "It is an honour for the SEC to have TNP partner us for the Singapore G1 2012, Singapore's largest environmentally-sustainable lifestyle event. With this collaboration, the twin objectives of disseminating environmental awareness and sustainable living to the masses will gain a wider credence and following."
The Singapore G1 will see participants walk in two 5-km routes starting from two MRT stations – Lavender and Kallang Stadium – and converge at the Marina Barrage.
Part of the proceeds from the registration fee of $20 for the Big Walk will go towards Project Helping Hands, TNP's adopted charity, which aims to install wireless motion sensors in the homes of the elderly who live alone.
