Panasonic launches ‘You’re Under Arrest’ campaign
The Facebook-focused eco campaign encourages consumers to share eco tips amongst personal social networks.
Panasonic Asia Pacific recently announced the launch of a new eco campaign, ‘You’re Under Arrest’ following the huge successes of the ‘Channel E’ and ‘Make A Change’ campaigns on Facebook - www.facebook.com/panasonicasia.
The new eco campaign embraces Panasonic’s vision that consumers should lead a more environmentally-friendly lifestyle. By encouraging consumers to adopt eco-friendly habits, Panasonic aims to transform its followers into eco-champions who will in turn encourage members of their social circles to do likewise. The campaign aims to raise awareness of environmental issues through popular social media platform, Facebook.
“You’re Under Arrest is an interactive and personal way for our 115,000 fans to spread Panasonic’s eco messages to their peers,” said Evelyn Wee, Marketing Communications Manager, Panasonic Asia Pacific. “In line with Panasonic’s ‘eco ideas’ declaration in Asia Pacific, our use of social media platforms is ideal and effective in generating exponential awareness and inculcating environmentally-friendly habits.”
‘You’re Under Arrest’ takes it a step further than Panasonic’s past eco campaigns by getting fans personally involved in taking active steps toward generating and spreading awareness in helping the environment. The campaign is modelled after a court session where fans can put their peers on ‘trial’ for an environmental crime. Through a fun and interactive mechanism, the campaign leverages Facebook’s extensive reach to spread Panasonic’s eco messages virally through the social networking site’s sharing mechanisms.
Panasonic’s eco social media campaigns – ‘Make A Change’, ‘Channel E’ and ‘You’re Under Arrest’ – have to date, already garnered 115,000 Facebook fans. The fanbase continues to see steady growth making Panasonic the largest and fastest growing social media community globally.
