SPH Magazines buys Australia’s ACP Magazines for S$58m
The acquisition makes SPH Magazines the trademark owner of The Women's Weekly and CLEO in Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia.
ACP Magazines has 11 titles across four countries, and the purchase has also made SPH Magazines the trademark owner of The Finder in Singapore and Malaysia.
SPH Magazines will also take over ACP Magazine’s 50 percent share in the joint venture with Hearst Magazines International, which publishes Harper's BAZAAR and Cosmopolitan in Malaysia and Singapore.
Ms Julie Sherborn, Chief Executive Officer of ACP Magazines, will be appointed as Publishing Consultant during the transitional period, reporting directly to Mr Loh Yew Seng, Chief Executive Officer of SPH Magazines.
Ms Bridget Hope, ACP Magazines' Publishing Director who currently heads the editorial staff team in ACP Magazines, will report to Ms Caroline Ngui, Group Editor-in-Chief of SPH Magazines.
Mr Seymour Cohen, ACP Magazines' Commercial Director who heads the Marketing and Sales team in ACP Magazines, will report to Ms Maureen Wee, SPH Magazines' Managing Director for Lifestyle Division.
CIMB Bank Berhad, Singapore branch, was the financial advisor to SPH Magazines in relation to the purchase.
