SPH's Straits Times website hacked

Anonymous hacker group claims responsibility.

According to a Straits Times news update, a hacker claiming to be affiliated with the Anonymous network infiltrated the newspaper's website.

The hacking incident came days after a threat from the same organization vowed to strike at The Straits Times if it did not publish an apology and fire a journalist who wrote what the organization deemed as a "misleading" report.

A spokesman for Singapore Press Holdings, which publishes the Straits Times and its websites, said the paper stands by its reports and reporters, according to the news update.

A police report has been filed and an official investigation underway. The affected blogs had been taken down, said SPH.
