City Energy, Gentari to explore Malaysia-Singapore hydrogen pipeline

The parties will conduct the feasibility study over 12 months.

City Energy and Gentari inked a Joint Feasibility Study Agreement to construct a pipeline from Malaysia to Singapore to import hydrogen.

The agreement follows a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed in April 2023 between City Energy and Gentari.

Under the agreement, the parties will conduct the study over 12 months. Afterward, both parties will collectively determine how to execute an engineering design agreement.

Any pipeline to be established by the parties will supply hydrogen to the Senoko Gasworks plant in northern Singapore.

City Energy is Singapore’s sole producer and provider of piped town gas wholly owned by Keppel Infrastructure Trust. Gentari is a Malaysian clean energy solutions provider wholly owned by PETRONAS.

According to Singapore's National Hydrogen Strategy, hydrogen is key to achieving net zero emissions by 2050.
