The Association of Small & Medium Enterprises has appealed to landlords to share in carrying the burden of going into another round of Phase 2 (Heightened Alert).
Singapore tightened COVID-19 restrictions anew to contain the spread of COVID-19 cases.
In light of this, businesses in the food and beverage, as well as retail and service sectors, have asked that landlords “share the pain” in the new round.
This was backed by Singapore Tenants United for Fairness Chairman Terence Yow, who raised that landlords’ assistance has been “sporadic and selective.”

Marina Bay Sands Casino will be temporarily closed until 5 August as the number of COVID-19 cases in Singapore rise.
It will be closed as it is subjected to deep cleaning and disinfection to break the ongoing transmission within its premises.
The Ministry of Health said it will be investigating cases involving individuals who worked in the Casino as well as those who visited. A total of 11 cases have been linked to the Casino.

The Vietnamese government has asserted that its nationals who were caught engaging in vice activities do not represent the entire Vietnamese population in Singapore.
There are currently 15,000 Vietnamese staying in Singapore.
Most of whom were working in the food and beverage industry, whilst others were studying, Deputy Chief of Mission Le Cong Dung of the Vietnam Embassy said.
