Over $5m worth of e-vaporisers seized in Woodlands

Two Thai nationals were arrested.

The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) seized electronic vaporisers valued at over $5m during an enforcement operation at a warehouse in Woodlands Industrial Park.

The raid, conducted on 24 April, led to the arrest of two Thai nationals, aged 22 and 30, who were found residing in Singapore without valid passes. They were charged in court on 26 April.

More than 400,000 e-vaporisers and components were uncovered. The Health Sciences Authority took possession of the items. This is the second-largest seizure by HSA, following a $6m haul in March.

Importing, distributing, or selling e-vaporisers is illegal in Singapore. First-time offenders face fines up to $10,000 or six months in prison, or both. Repeat offenders face fines up to $20,000 or 12 months in prison, or both.

Overstaying in Singapore can result in fines up to $4,000 or six months in prison, or both. Offenders are deported and barred from re-entering Singapore.

Meanwhile, the ICA said it will continue rigorous enforcement operations to control immigration offenses.
