PacificLight, RExus sign 10-year deal to supply clean energy to Google

Energy will be sourced from RExus's 13.2MW WWtE plant.

To help advance green data centres in Singapore, PacificLight Energy has entered into a 10-year collaboration with Rexus Bioenergy (RExus) to supply Google with renewable energy generated from RExus’ waste wood-to-energy (WWtE) plant.

Under the agreement, PacificLight will offtake renewable energy from the plant, which will support Google’s data centre and operations in Singapore. The collaboration is seen to contribute to the tech giant’s sustainability goals to operate on carbon-free energy by 2030.

RExus’s 13.2-megawatt WWtE plant was developed and invested by Sobono Bioenergy and V8 Environmental. The facility uses waste wood, such as horticultural waste and waste wood from the logistics industry, to generate energy. This is expected to begin commercial operation in 2026.

The plant will be paired with a pilot-scale carbon capture system where the captured carbon dioxide will be channelled towards innovative downstream utilisations.
