Safe Management Measures: Here's what you need to know
Key parameters include group size, masks, WFH, safe distancing, and capacity limits.
Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong announced the reset of the Safe Management Measures (SMMs) during the multi-ministry taskforce press conference on 16 February. Wong noted the resets make the SMMs easy to adjust depending on the situation.
Group size for social gatherings
Wong said the restriction will stay at five persons. Also, there was an additional restriction added wherein households can only have up to five unique visitors visiting per day.
Wearing of masks
He added that masks will remain a status quo for both indoors and outdoors.
Working from home
He stated the 50% capacity in offices remains, regardless of what could be done within the workplace (i.e. social gatherings, lunch breaks).
Safe distancing
Wong explained that as long as masks are worn, safe distancing is no longer required. However, it is still encouraged. A one-metre distancing rule applies where there is a mask-off rule.
Capacity limits
Lastly, Wong announced the different size limits for different kinds of events have been removed. Instead, there will be a simple capacity limit rule wherein 50% will be allowed where there are more than 100 people. The masking and safer distancing rules also apply in this parameter.
However, specific rules still apply to higher risk activities such as singing, alcohol consumption at food and beverage outlets, and nightlife activities.
