Schneider Electric to deploy over 20,000 EV chargers by 2030
The company has supplied 2,000 EV chargers as of December 2022.
Schneider Electric plans to provide 20,000 electric vehicles (EV) chargers to Singapore to support the government’s plan to have 100% clean energy vehicles by 2040.
As of December 2022, Schneider Electric has supplied about 2,000 chargers in the Lion City.
“Schneider Electric EV partners will progressively install smart EV chargers in commercial, industrial and residential buildings islandwide - making it more convenient and efficient for EV users,” the energy tech firm said.
“Having more charging points by 2030 will make Singapore’s charging infrastructure more robust and accessible. With more charging points, it is also critical for stakeholders to address load management issues that come with increasing electricity demand and this is where the EcoStruxure EV Charging Expert can help to ensure reliability and efficiency,” said Yoon Young Kim, Schneider Electric Cluster President of Singapore, Malaysia, and Brunei.
Apart from new EV charges, Schneider Electric also announced close to 120,000 kWh worth of free charging from 1 April to 30 September.
The company will be collaborating with EV charging point operators (CPOs) for the initiative.
