Sembcorp bags tender for largest solar power project in Singapore
The project will increase the solar capacity of Jurong Island to 142.2MWp from 25.2MWp.
JTC has awarded Sembcorp Solar Singapore the tender for its largest solar deployment on Jurong Island.
The project will cover 60 hectares of interim vacant land and the rooftops of five JTC buildings, including the Jurong Rock Caverns above-ground facilities and Jurong Island Checkpoint.
The tender will have a solar generation capacity of 117MWp, increasing the total solar generation capacity of Jurong Island from 25.2MWp to 142.2MWp.
The expected generation capacity on Jurong Island by 2024 can power over 33,400 4-room HDB flats annually and reduce over 63,220 tonnes of carbon emission per year.
As part of the tender, JTC will also collaborate with Sembcorp Solar Singapore to develop a Virtual Power Plant (VPP) solution for Jurong Island.
“The VPP will integrate data from distributed energy resources (DERS) such as solar and energy storage systems and allow for energy management through real-time data monitoring, analytics, and the optimisation of energy assets,” JTC said.
