What do single & ultra rich men in Singapore look for in a date?
New advice from Lunch Actually founder Violet Lim on how to catch your Mr Big in Singapore.
Singapore Business Review spoke with Violet Lim, founder of Lunch Actually about interesting trends on single and high net worth individuals participating in dating and matchmaking platforms.
Lunch Actually opened its doors in 2004 to match make single men and women eight years ago, it pioneered a new mode of dating in Singapore – lunch dating, with the rationale that lunch was shorter and less time consuming.
Here’s what she observed:
For men generally, whether they are HNWS or not, first impressions usually would be quite important.
And for HNWS, the men do place an emphasis on the looks or physical appearance of the ladies.
However, they are not looking for ‘bimbos’ either.
They are looking for ladies who are intelligent and well-travelled.
In terms of age group, they are looking for someone who’s in their 20s to mid-30s, as they are looking to settle down to start a family.
For the ladies, if they are a HNWS, they usually would prefer someone who is of the same background or status.
However, if the guy is not as financially stable as her, she is also open to dating someone who’s talented in his own field e.g. art, music etc. Generally, they are quite open about the age group of the guy.
Preferably, they would like to meet someone who’s same age or older, but they are open to guys who are slightly younger as well.
And of course, other than the above mentioned criteria, both men and women are looking to date someone who’s compatible with them, someone whom they can communicate with and share the same wavelength with.
According to Ms Lim most of their clients are in their 30s and 40s and there are more men participating than women.
In the past 8 years, Lunch Actually have arranged close to 20,000 dates.
