Singapore principal Ai Ai Wong appointed to join Baker & McKenzie's global executive committee
She replaced an Australian principal.
Baker & McKenzie has designated Ai Ai Wong to the Firm's Global Executive Committee, the first Singaporean to be elected to the Firm's governing body in its 67 year history.
Mrs. Wong joins incoming Regional Chair, Gary Seib, as one of two Asia Pacific representatives on Baker & McKenzie's most senior leadership team of eight members, with responsibility for developing and implementingcglobal business strategy and managing the Firm's day-to-day business across 77 offices in 47 countries.
She willcalso serve as Deputy Chair on Baker & McKenzie's Asia Pacific Regional Council, which is charged with settingcregional strategy for the Firm's 17 offices in 12 jurisdictions in Asia Pacific.
Mrs. Wong has a long-standing career with Baker & McKenzie. Having joined in 1996, Mrs. Wong has served in several leadership positions in the Firm, including head of the Singapore Corporate & Securities practice and Chair of the Asia Pacific Private Equity Group.

Mrs. Wong's four year term took effect during Baker & McKenzie's Annual Meeting, held last week in Barcelona, which was attended by more than 750 partners from across the world.
The Annual Meeting saw the confirmation of Paul Rawlinson as the new Global Chairman of Baker & McKenzie and the appointment of Gary Seib as the Chairman of Baker & McKenzie in Asia Pacific.
Mrs Wong succeeds Bruce Hambrett as Asia Pacific member of the Global Executive Committee, as Mr Hambrett returns to Australia after four years based in Singapore.
