Stamford Law boosts expansion plans with addition of INCA Law Founding Team

Stamford Law continues to rapidly grow its capabilities in the Asian region and has taken on board a team of lawyers – including two founding members – of a leading construction, infrastructure and projects specialist firm, INCA Law. Following the INCA Law team joining the firm, INCA Law will cease its operations, and be absorbed by Stamford Law.

The two founding members of INCA Law - Ms. Lynette CHEW and Mr. Kelvin AW - join the firm as directors. They will be forming a construction-focused practice, covering front-end structuring and contract procurement work to contentious matters arising from construction and engineering projects in the region.

This will tie in with Mr. Richard TAN’s highly-regarded and immensely respected practice. He is the current Chairman of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, Singapore branch and is a consultant at Stamford Law.

He is a formidable and first-rate player in the construction & infrastructure space with decades of experience, and was recently named the Construction Lawyer of the Year 2013 by a leading legal publication.

Lynette and Kelvin will also be enhancing expertise to the firm’s insurance practice that is currently headed up by the hugely experienced Mr. Justyn JAGGER, who joined the firm last year.

“We are so pleased to welcome Lynette and Kelvin to the firm. We were presented with this wonderful opportunity to boost our dispute resolution and projects bench strength after already welcoming three new corporate directors this year,” said Ms. Suet-Fern LEE, senior director at Stamford Law. “Lynette and Kelvin are incredibly experienced in the construction, insurance, projects, and international trade space, and they and their team bring a wealth of experience that will greatly broaden our multi-jurisdictional practice and benefit our clients.”

Lynette has an LLB (Hons) from University of London and is a Barrister-at-Law, Lincoln’s Inn, and is admitted to practice in Singapore. She specialises in civil commercial litigation, arbitration and mediation. She has extensive experience in a wide range of contentious and non-contentious matters, covering construction, insurance, international trade, and investment.

Kelvin holds an LLB (Hons) from the University of Kent at Canterbury, and an MSc (Construction Law & Arbitration) from King’s College London. He is admitted to practice in Singapore and England & Wales.

He is a well-regarded projects lawyer and has diverse experience, ranging from the non-contentious side front-end structuring work to contentious matters arising from construction and engineering projects throughout the region.

They both formed the project team that advised on front-end construction contracts for the Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort project in Singapore which exceeded S$6 billion.

They have also advised on landmark contentious and non-contentious matters both in Singapore, and throughout the region, in countries such as China, India, Indonesia, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia and Myanmar.
