Changi Airports and Hainan Meilan form JV for non-aero services

The CAI will control 49% of the JV.

Changi Airports International (CAI) has formed a joint venture (JV) with Hainan Meilan International Airport to manage the non-aeronautical commercial operations at Haikou Meilan International Airport (HAK).

CAI controls 49% of the joint venture and the remaining stake belongs to Hainan Meilan International Airport.

Through the JV, CAI will gain exclusive management rights for retail, F&B, advertising, leisure, and commercially important person (CIP) services at the Chinese airport for 10 years starting in January 2025.

The JV will build on Changi Airport’s brand and expertise to optimise passenger experience, expand retail, and launch digital services like e-commerce and loyalty programs.

HAK connects 116 domestic destinations and 30 international destinations. In 2023, the airprot handled 0.48 millionm intenratl passengers.
